One of Five Teams Shortlisted for Russian Theme Park
The Russian Green Building Council shortlisted Base4 to continue work on the second stage of the Park “Russia” competition. Initially, a total of 180 applicants from 41 countries including companies from Russia, the United States, Netherlands, Italy, England, and Japan submitted concepts in the Stage 1 competition. Base4 partnered with Quantum-AIP, ITEC Entertainment Group, Innovations Design Group, and Nicklaus Golf Course Design and was one of the five competitors to continue to Stage 2. Park “Russia” plans to become the largest theme park in Europe. Designed to be a “trademark” for the country in Moscow’s Domodedovo district, the 1000 hectare “Russia” Theme Park aims to merge concepts of healthy living, entertainment and education into one, commercially attractive destination.
The theme park will be made up of the following seven components: Entertainment, Landscape, Education, Sports, Outdoor Activities, Health Care, Exhibitions, and Commercial Services. Programs will highlight a high-tech amusement park as well as many other attractions. These include a cinema multiplex, concert halls, theater center, Safari Park, Presidential Botanic Garden, Museum of Russian Science, “Historical Path of Russia” educational center, a sports Hall of Fame, surfing in the Black Sea-inspired Aquapark, equestrian club, SPA complex, conference center, hotel, residential and shopping areas, and more.
Although not ultimately selected as the winner of the competition, it was truly an honor to be involved in such a high profile project. The other four teams competing in the second stage of the competition all had a distinct and unique vision and we would like to congratulate the Cushman & Wakefield team on winning the competition. Base4’s concept idea and renderings are shown below.
